Tricia Lamb

Fourth Grade - Room 19

Welcome to a new school year! My name is Miss Lamb and I am originally from England (that's why I talk "funny"). I moved over to the United States about twenty-two years ago, and the first couple of weeks in my class are really interesting as I sometimes use different words for things. For example, the rubbish is trash, pigeon hole is a cubby, and a torch is a flashlight. My "mum" lives in California and my father lives in New Zealand. I have been at Kaiser for the last twenty years and have taught both third and fourth grade as well as science to first, second, third, and fourth graders.

At home I have a beautiful cat called Willow who I rescued about seven years ago. She is about eight years old and she is constantly running around the house. Willow loves playing with her toys and every night she brings most of them from the living room into my bedroom! Check out her beautiful blue eyes in the picture.

When I'm not teaching I like to spend time with my family and friends, play with Willow, read, travel, watch movies, and do puzzles. Traveling is one of my most favorite things to do. One of the best places I've visited is Africa with my dad. We went on a safari in Kenya, and some of the animals I saw in the wild were lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, and crocodiles. The best moment was when a cheetah decided to sit on my jeep. I've also visited Egypt and saw the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings. I even rode a camel! It was hard to stay on when the camel got up from its knees. In 2010 I visited Yellowstone and was amazed at all the geology and wildlife. There's nothing like a bison jam on the road! In February 2013, I visited Alaska and saw the Northern Lights. One night it reached a temperature of -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Now that is cold!! The summer of 2014 I went to Peru. What an amazing place! The highlights were staying in the jungle and visiting Machu Picchu. A couple of summers ago, I visited Russia and saw so many interesting things in the cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. It was hard to read the street signs as the Russians use a different alphabet than us! For the past two summers, I visited my dad in New Zealand. My highlight was tracking and seeing the elusive kiwi bird at night and seeing the huge ancient Kauri trees. It was their winter time, so it was nice to have some cold weather, and I had to get used to driving on the other side of the road again!

You will be learning a lot of new and interesting information this year. There are great stories and books to read in fourth grade and hopefully you've been practicing your multiplication facts during the summer. I know I have because they really help in math. I'm looking forward to seeing you in room 19 this year!
